Winter Thaw

This has been one crazy year. I have been focusing a little more on my graphic design work while still keeping up with commissions,  long term assignments and school work. I have not had much time for personal work.

The beginning of August I  finished up a few long term projects. One of my scheduled creations was a  short comic for the Dark Lady anthology. This comic collection is due to be published sometime around Halloween by Hellcat Press. My submission was a short horror story revolving around the spring thaw, rot, collections of curiosities and teeth.  In my searches I came across some amazing old dental supplies, beautifully gruesome charts and diagrams.

Found on vintageprintable.com

My favorite discovery were the amazing dental cabinets and boxes. ( Search for antique dental cabinets )

Then I found these tooth necklaces (above)  from BoneLust on Etsy.

I do have a bit of a fascination with teeth, I spend a lot of time at the dentist. I think I like sweets too much, wich leads to cavities and lots of dentist visits.

Enjoy the photos and keep an eye out for The Dark lady anthology.

Mini-Comic

Above are some images for a mini-comic I have been working.  Hopefully I will have it done by the end of the summer, then I can start looking for printers.

Comic Bits

I started my little comic in the sketchbook for the "Sketchbook Project". Before sending it out on it's travels I hastily made some fairly poor scans of the images. I am now in the process of cleaning up the images on Photoshop and adding text.

Working on a comic, even a mini one like this has proven to be a lot of work, but great fun.

Happy August!

Disney/Pixar, Brave

I just saw a preview for the Disney/Pixar movie, Brave. The imagery looks like something I would really enjoy, bears, archers red headed girls and dark landscapes. eeek!

I can only hope that there will be numerous woodland creatures included.

Below is one of my pieces... my own interpretation of a wild woodland girl.

In other news I am working on a short comic.

I have posted some sketches below. They are not the best quality photos, but I usually end up taking photos at night after the sun has gone down.

Sketch Book Project

I always enjoy participating in little projects and viewing other people's work, especially if it involves mailing things. I rarely have the time, but what fun! Currently, in-between work and preparing for my Sep. show, I have been filling up a little Moleskin sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. I figured that I would try and put together a little comic book of mini stories. Working on a comic has been on my to-do list for a while.
